Starts Monday 27th January - Ends Friday 16th February 2025
Sessions:
Monday / Wednesday / Friday 07:30 – 08:30 Central European Time
Dear friends, over the last fifteen years, I have significantly benefited from Pranayama and Meditation as imparted by my teacher. I would like to share this practice with those who are living in other places around the world and who cannot join our retreats in person.
Based on commentaries from the the last Pranayama online course, I would now like to start a ‘Pranayama Online Sangha’ (community) where we can practice together as I lead the sessions.
Lasting for four weeks, we will meet online three times a week.
Note these are live online sessions only, there will be no recordings. I would like to honour the tradition of teaching, where students sit with the teacher in person and are alert to those teachings– but we do this online.
I will take a maximum of 8 participants so that we can easily communicate during our Q&A sessions and keep it personal.
There is no Asana (physical postures), we will have a short break for stretching the body.
In our sessions together, I will touch briefly on the roots of Pranayama in the history of Yoga, and I will explain why we choose to utilise the breath particularly in the way we practice.
Simply said, Pranayama are Yogic breathing techniques. When performed accurately and with caution, it may have several physiological benefits. However, in India, where such practices have their origins, Pranayama, besides moving and activating the energy within our bodies, is a training of focusing awareness and said to be the bridge between the physical practices and the work on the mind.
Following the teaching tradition of Emil Wendel, beyond its merely physical benefits, we will be utilising the breath as a tool towards meditation, clarity of the mind and precious levels of stillness.
*If you are in Asia/Pacific Time and interested for early morning sessions please send an inquiry. Should there be enough participants with a similar request, I would consider offering morning sessions for your time zone. An average morning time will be decided then, this will be somewhere between 06:00 and 8:00 Singapore time.
